The woman's employers suspended her with pay after recalling her to work following a decade-long absence. She was presented with a choice: a substantial lump sum settlement or the option to return to her job. Opting for the lump sum would have been a better financial decision for Mr. Mahoney, but he persuaded her to prioritize job security and the protection afforded by a union. She is still gainfully employed to this day. Looking ahead, Mr. Mahoney aims to reduce his working hours to spend more time with his fiancée and travel more.
