Soon thereafter, he earned a Master's degree in Media Culture and Communications from New York University. He has also garnered an Executive Certificate in Marketing Mastery from The Wharton School and a certification as a "Search Inside Yourself" facilitator at Google.
Since then, Mr. Whitaker has also become a certified Master Life Coach and Mental Health First Aid practitioner, and holds certifications for Trauma-Informed Coaches from The Centre for Healing, The Mindfulness Meditation Teachers program, and the InnerMBA Program from MindfulNYU.
After gaining experience as an Assistant Producer and editor at various prominent news outlets and as a Videographer, he established his own companies, Whitaker Films and Nicholas Whitaker Photography, which he later sold in 2010. Mr. Whitaker was then recruited to serve as a Media Outreach Associate for Adecco, Workforce Logic and Google and later, in 2018, became the owner of Nicholas Whitaker Coaching.
In the corporate world, Mr. Whitaker accepted a position as a Strategic Partner Lead at Google in 2019 after serving as a Training and Development Manager for Google News Lab for several years, and saw continued success as the Learning Delivery Specialist and Production Planning Lead of People Development at Google in 2020. Mr. Whitaker is also proud of the unpaid work he took on throughout the pandemic; first within Google to grow gPause, a company-wide mindfulness program, to 5000+ participants, then as Co-Founder of The Changing Work Collective in 2023, a like-minded group of professionals aiming to radically transform the nature of work from the inside out while championing healthier work environments and a renewed sense of balance, purpose, and vitality. Mr. Whitaker also drew from his experience to act as advisor to several wellbeing and mindfulness start ups.
As a respected voice in his field, Mr. Whitaker has been called upon as a public speaker and adjunct professor throughout his career, and continues to volunteer time with various organizations.
Mr. Whitaker attributes his success to emotional intelligence, vulnerability and willingness to speak about his own personal journey.
