Before joining Paychex in August 2022, Ms. Rivera-Tuma was the Global DEI Strategy Manager at U.S. Bank and was responsible for developing the overall strategy and subsequent goals to accelerate and improve representation, engagement, development, and retention for the Hispanic and military segment. During her years with U.S. Bancorp, her efforts in the DEI domain helped lay the foundation for a best-in-class development program aimed at breaking the glass ceiling for Asian, Black, and Hispanic Employees in partnership with Dr. Robert Rodriguez, which received national recognition from Hispanic Executive Magazine. She also assisted the product development team in introducing the nation's first mobile banking application in Spanish.
Prior to U.S. Bank, she also worked as a branch manager in DEI and Community Development banking at PNC Bank. During her time in community development, she worked on revitalizing low to moderate-income communities. In this role, Ms. Rivera-Tuma partnered with nonprofit organizations focused on community and economic development. One of her greatest successes was the development of a mesh wi-fi system which was incorporated into Black and Hispanic communities that lacked broadband infrastructure. The program included partnerships that provided free computers, broadband, and digital literacy training. Her proposal was picked up by the City and various nonprofit organizations to break down the digital divide and create equity throughout Cleveland.
Ms. Rivera-Tuma graduated Summa Cum Laude from Walden University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She also completed several professional credentials through McKinsey & Company, such as the Hispanic and Latino Executive Leadership Program and A2E Business Fundamentals.
In light of her success, Ms. Rivera-Tuma received several awards, including recognition in the Crain's Cleveland Business 40 Under 40 list, as a Young Hispanic Corporate Achiever by the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility, and among the 5 Most Influential Women in DEI. She was also recognized by CIO Views in 2023 and in the Hispanic Stars Rising; volume II. For her civic contributions, Ms. Rivera-Tuma received a Presidential Citation Award from Rotary International. Her journey to success has been strongly influenced by her determination and ongoing support of her husband.
