After serving as a human resources specialist in the U.S. Air Force between 1991 and 1997, Ms. Combs managed financials for vendors as a Clerk with the United States Postal Service. Later, she found herself in need of assistance from the United Way's Mission United program of Broward County upon being diagnosed with diabetes. Although she was able to seek solace with her sister for a while, there came a time when her sister could no longer help and she had to rely on her small military pension. Once she found an apartment she liked, Mission United was able to help her secure a place to live, which has allowed her to care for her young son and eventually excel in a professional setting. During the early stages of her career, Ms. Combs worked for Knight Health Holdings' Kindred Hospital as a senior revenue cycle liaison and analyst.
Over the years, Ms. Combs gained valuable expertise in the field with such companies as Health Business Solutions, LLC, DMMS Solutions (Pty) Ltd., and Healthcare Financial Systems. Drawing on years of expertise in medical billing and coding, project management, finance, and more, she presently excels as a revenue cycle data analyst for FHE Health, where she maintains responsibility for analyzing managed care and commercial entities within insurance companies. Additionally, Ms. Combs oversees the organization's budget and claims.
An expert in her field, Ms. Combs earned an Associate of Arts in business administration and management from Broward College in 2022. Subsequently, she expanded upon her professional knowledge by becoming a certified denial recovery specialist in the state of Florida. Currently, she is in the process of pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in supervision and management with s specialization in human resources at her alma mater. In conjunction with her work, Ms. Combs volunteers in her community at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church to feed the homeless and contribute to Mission United.
While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Combs is most proud of becoming a project manager at the University of Miami after serving as a claims specialist, claims analyst, claims coordinator, and supervisor. The cornerstone of her success lies with her mother, who instilled in her a good work ethic. Looking toward the future, Ms. Combs intends to become the district director of human resources for the Veterans Administration.
