A skilled non-profit professional with more than two decades of excellence in policy development and management, Ms. Meinhold has earned distinction as the executive director and co-founder of the Caring for Denver Foundation. Since 2018, she has worked side by side with staff, community, and city partners to address mental health and substance misuse needs in Denver. Additionally, she lends her expertise as a member of several boards including the Colorado Public Health Association, Project Angel Heart Africa School Assistance Program, and Connect for Health Colorado.
Before her current role, Ms. Meinhold served as the executive director of the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative in 2001 and became a senior policy and program officer for The Colorado Health Foundation in 2006. Following this time, she functioned as the senior health policy advisor for the State of Colorado in 2009, taking a role as the senior policy director of health, human services, education and economic development for the state in 2011. During this time, she played a key role in creating the Colorado Health Insurance Exchange legislation while working in the Governor's office and was instrumental in expanding Medicaid coverage to allow more individuals to receive healthcare.
Ms. Meinhold continued her career as the deputy executive director and director of community partnerships for the State of Colorado in 2012, becoming the senior policy director for the Keystone Policy Center in 2014. To prepare for her professional journey, Ms. Meinhold earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1988. Among her professional accomplishments, she is proud to have received a Community Builder Award from Servicios de la Raza in 2022. She also was honored with a Community Partner Award and was recognized with an Outstanding Foundation award from the National Philanthropy Association in 2023.
Within the coming years, Ms. Meinhold aims to create some new models of care for initiatives that provide individuals with opportunities to heal from mental health challenges and substance misuse. Through her stellar leadership of the Caring for Denver Foundation, over 235 organizations have received more than $129 million to support these efforts.
