Mr. Turner has been a dirt bike enthusiast since childhood and started riding when he was 12 years of age. He was an expert in motorcycle hill climbing and humbly notes that the Southern California Hillclimbers Association named him the number three plateholder for the sport in 1984 and 1985, which he counts as a noteworthy achievement. Mr. Turner is also gratified to have earned important academic training through the completion of an associate degree in business and commerce from Santa Ana College.
Notably, Mr. Turner cites his father, who was an owner-operator of NAPA auto parts stores and his mother who owned and operated a beauty salon, as positive influences on his own entrepreneurial endeavors. Mr. Turner also boasts six years of experience in accessory development with Mazda Motors of America between 1980 and 1986, and in 1985, he started a concurrent initiative called Dave Turner Motorsports to host an off-road racing team and represent Ford, Mazda and Jeep. The company persisted through 2011.
Numerous accolades accompany Mr. Turner and his team, including finishing 3rd in the 1990 Winston Smokin' Wheels race in Guam, 1st in the 1991 U.S. Off Road Grand Prix in Tokyo, Japan, 1st 3100 Pro class in the 2001 Silver State Series Best in the Desert Championship, and 1st 3700 class in the 2013 Jeepspeed Championship. In 2015 Mr. Turner was 2nd in the AMA National Hare and Hound series. In 1994 and 1995 he was a two-time national champion, competing in different classes, in SCCA Pro Rally Racing, and in both 2017 and 2018, after turning 60, Mr. Turner won second place in 60+ Expert Place in the SoCal Old Timers International MX Race at Glen Helen Raceway.
Mr. Turner attributes his professional success to the support of his wife, and he cites hard work and clear objectives as critical to his advancement. Looking toward the future, Mr. Turner aims to persist in his work as the manager of the race team and enjoy amateur racing as a hobby as he progresses toward eventual retirement and relaxation.
