Over the years, he had also envisaged/developed voice-over Internet technologies on behalf of Clarent, which enabled his company, PackeTel, to be founded.
In conjunction with his work, Mr. Salva remains steadfastly dedicated to community involvement, contributing to national laboratories, including Argonne National Laboratory and universities in the Chicago area. Similarly, he had been a laboratory advisor for the Technology Lab at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Paul had also worked with the Chicago Public Schools, under a consulting contract with the Illinois State Board of Education & Illinois Century Network, to connect all K-12 schools to the public Internet. An expert in his field, he holds a bachelor's degree in telecommunications from the DeVry Institute of Technology, through which he is currently pursuing a master's degree in telecommunications management. Personally, he is the proud father of a daughter, who works as a dentist, an older son, who has a gold record and a Grammy nomination, produces and writes music in Los Angeles, and his youngest son, who works in information technology like his father.
Although his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Salva takes the most pride in his entrepreneurial endeavor to commercialize a government funded technology platform developed by The National Center for Supercomputing Applications. Paul also enjoyed an engagement with the world's largest commercial bank, holding a global leadership position as VP and Senior Manager of Cybersecurity. Participating in a program run by the U.S. government, which published National Information Security Technology regulatory standards. During one particular project, he conducted a survey to assess the maturity level of cybersecurity technologies that the bank had in place. Due to his findings, he set out to mature the bank's technologies and security control over the course of several years.
Looking forward, Mr. Salva is working to partner with companies such as Verizon or Motorola to implement his most recent innovation, a network architecture allowing people to connect to the public internet via a secure portal while delivering time sensitive or vital transactions - despite Internet disruption.
