Drawing on years of professional experience, Mr. McGilberry recently excelled as a contract consulting senior project coordinator for Evonik Superabsorber, through which he maintained responsibility for contractor access to projects, as well as permits and walk-throughs for job sites. Alongside his work with Evonik, he specializes in construction management as a consultant at various job sites in the Southeast.
In conjunction with his professional career, he contributes to youth nationwide as the president of Pro Instruct, a nonprofit organization for youth baseball and softball camps he established in 1991 with the intent of offering free instruction and educational encouragement to children who could not otherwise afford it. He is an honorary member of the BEST Scholars and advocates for educational scholarships through a fundraising event with other professional athletes in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Additionally, Mr. McGilberry serves as president and lobbyist for the Alabama Corrections Officers Association. He is also the Buildings and Grounds Minister at the Gateway Church of Christ in Pensacola, Florida.
Prior to obtaining his current role, Mr. McGilberry worked for ExxonMobil Chemicals as the SSH&E manager, stores/facilities supervisor, and maintenance planner. Throughout his career, he worked as a construction manager for Hargrove Engineers & Constructors and as a mechanical designer for Brown and Root Engineering. During the initial stages of his career, Mr. McGilberry played for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and later the Kansas City Royals as a Major League Baseball pitcher, participating in three games in the 1977 season and eighteen in the 1978 season. Driven to remain abreast of changes in Major League Baseball, he aligns himself with the Major League Baseball Retired Players Association.
Considering his athletic achievements, Mr. McGilberry was named the Best Pitcher in Alabama High School in 1972 and signed a full scholarship with Louisiana Tech and pitched two no-hit games (one against Ole Miss the defending SEC champions) in his freshman season. He was inducted into the Mobile Sports Hall of Fame in 2010. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in winning two Western Division Championships with the Royals.
