Based in Indianapolis, Ms. Jones has been an educational consultant for the Indiana Department of Child Services since 2022. She is notably responsible for advocating for the educational stability of approximately 600 foster youth throughout Region 11, which includes Madison, Hancock, Hamilton, and Tipton counties.
Ms. Jones previously consulted for various organizations between 2017 and 2023, including the Attachment & Trauma Network, Inc., Foster Success, the Institute for Citizens & Scholars, Eli Lilly and Company, and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Since becoming a consultant, she has notably worked with investigators for the prosecutor's office in several counties. She has also had the opportunity to present to several large audiences in 2022 and 2023 about co-regulation in the classroom.
Passionate about securing justice in education for America's minority youth population, Ms. Jones plans to remain in her role and continue doing good work. She also recognizes how many of her former students have graduated from high school and still require support.
Leveraging her former success and experience in education, Ms. Jones taught advanced placement chemistry and biology, regular chemistry and biology, physics, and earth science in several different schools, including Warren Central High School, Hoosier Academy Network of Schools, Herron High School, Arlington High School, and Muncie Central High School. While pursuing her degrees, she also garnered experience as a graduate teaching and research assistant at Purdue University and as an undergraduate research assistant at Johnson C. Smith University and Kent State University.
A Johnson C. Smith University graduate, Ms. Jones received a Bachelor of Science in chemistry with a minor in mathematics in 2008. She subsequently received a Master of Science in analytical chemistry from Purdue University in 2011, a Master of Arts in secondary education from the Teachers College at Ball State University in 2012, and a Master of Science in education, curriculum, and instruction from Purdue University in 2022. Additionally, Ms. Jones received certification in applied educational neuroscience from Butler University in 2021. She remains aware of developments in her field as a member of the American Chemical Society.
