Prior to her work with Pivot Ministry, Ms. Polk co-founded and served as president of Global Pet Products, Inc. from 1999 to 2006. She also served as the chief operating officer at Royster Smith Shelton & Co., P.C. and Salem Group from 2000 to 2003 and 1995 to 2000, respectively. Earlier in her career, Ms. Polk was the director of operations services and customer service at Champion Products/Spring City Knitting, a division of Sara Lee Corporation, in Cartersville, Georgia, and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, between 1992 and 1994. She began her professional journey at Integon Insurance, subsequently GMAC Insurance, where she held various roles, including vice president of corporate planning and analysis and as a member of its executive committee beginning in 1983.
Boasting an extensive education, Ms. Polk's academic background includes a Master of Business Administration from the Wake Forest University School of Business, earned in 1989, and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Mississippi College, received in 1974. For her visionary efforts and investment in her classmates, she earned the Babcock Builder Award from the Wake Forest University School of Business.

As a testament to her dedication to her industry, Ms. Polk has received numerous accolades, recently earning the Women of Vision, Women's Empowerment Award from her local YWCA in 2023. She is a member of various organizations, including the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits, HandsOn Northwest North Carolina and the North Carolina Association of Volunteer Administration.
Beyond her professional life, Ms. Polk is a proud mother of one son and grandmother of two grandsons. A music enthusiast, she has lent her talents to her church choir and orchestra.
