Mr. Nguyen is the owner and chief executive officer of THN Insurance Solutions, a premier insurance company based in Oklahoma City. Apart from his contributions to THN, Mr. Nguyen has found success as the co-owner, founder, and chief executive officer of Dragon Insurance Inc. since 2011. He previously learned the complexities of the insurance industry as an agent with New York Life Insurance Company from 2010 to 2011 and as a producer with Lee Insurance Agency between 2009 and 2011.
Mr. Nguyen spent his former years in the sciences, beginning as a research associate at the University of Oklahoma from 1994 to 1995 while pursuing his undergraduate studies. As a part of the Human Genome Project, he was one of five undergraduates to be published in Nature journal, a prestigious journal in the areas of biomedical science research and technology sector, which earned him recognition and a job opportunity at Pennsylvania State College of Medicine in the neurophysiology department focusing on genetics and genomics of the heart. Mr. Nguyen remained in medical research for nearly a decade, focusing on such areas as arthritis, immunology, cancer, genetics, and genomics. He also spent several years employed by the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation as a senior research technician and at the Hershey Medical Center as a research associate III. Returning to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Mr. Nguyen was named an associate research assistant from 2002 to 2007 before being promoted to senior research assistant between 2007 and 2009.
Besides his primary career goals, Mr. Nguyen has been heavily engaged in his community, particularly economic development, beautification, and preservation. He is the founder of the Asian District Cultural Association and one of the founding members of the Greater Oklahoma City Asian Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Nguyen derives satisfaction from organizing festivals and events that unites people, build stronger communities, and give Asian Americans a voice at the table. He also notably ran for office in 2022-2023, becoming the first Asian American to run for city council in Oklahoma City and the state of Oklahoma.
Highly educated, Mr. Nguyen received a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from the University of Oklahoma in 1999 and a Master of Science in biostatistics and epidemiology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2008. His remarkable success has earned him recognition in 405 Business Magazine among the OKC Metro Most Influential in 2023, a Premier Gold Producer for United Healthcare in 2020-present, Charismatic Leadership Award from OKC MED Week in 2022, ELITE Marketplace Circle of Champions in 2019-present. For his civic commitments, Mr. Nguyen was honored to receive an Outstanding Asian American Award from the Asian Society of Oklahoma in 2019 and Outstanding Civic Leader in Oklahoma City from the Asian Society of Oklahoma in 2022. Most notably, he was Leadership Oklahoma's 2023 Helping Oklahoma Award Recipent.
