A skilled legal professional with more than two decades of excellence in the software and electronics industry, Dr. Huang has earned distinction as a partner with Faegre Drinker Biddle and Reath LLC. Since 2020, she has focused her efforts on leading the patent teams for several companies, including software companies, artificial intelligence (AI) software companies, analog and digital IC (integrated circuit) electronics companies, and medical device companies. Added to these, she develops intellectual property (IP) strategies and drafts and prosecutes patent applications for various digital technologies and systems globally, including for machine learning models, large language models, data analytics, computer visions, batteries, engines, and medical devices. She also lends her expertise to the board of directors for the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music and is a volunteer attorney with the Children's Law Center of Minnesota.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Huang began her career as a research assistant for the artificial intelligence and pattern recognition lab of Shantou University in China in 1994 and became a software developer for the 3M Company in 1998, later promoted to work as a software and data architect. In 2009, she joined 3M Innovative Properties Company as a law clerk and took a role as an intellectual property counsel in 2012.
Among her professional accomplishments, Dr. Huang was admitted as a fellow to the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity in 2017. Additionally, she has taken a number of leadership positions in the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) and the American Bar Association (ABA). While pursuing her education, she also received the Justice Otis, Magnuson-Amdahl, Schumann-Xu Intellectual Property, Fellow, and Merit scholarships.
Supported by these and other prestigious scholarships, Dr. Huang earned a Bachelor of Engineering in biomedical engineering from Tsinghua University in China in 1994. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Akron in 1998 and a Doctor of Philosophy in computer science from the University of Minnesota in 2003. She subsequently gained a Juris Doctor from the William Mitchell College of Law in 2012 Summa Cum Laude.
