Prior to this role, Mr. Terry spent over six years at Haskell as a senior design project manager from 2016 until 2022.
Mr. Terry has spent the entirety of his career based in Charlotte, NC. He acquired his education and professional degree at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture in 1998 and a Bachelor of Architecture in 1999. He was recognized by the College of Architecture in 1999, receiving the exclusive "Outstanding Senior" award and was also inducted into the Order of Omega, an honor society that seeks to recognize the top 3% of the Greek community for academic, leadership, and service contributions.
Upon graduation, Mr. Terry explored and considered several options for his first position in the architectural industry. He ultimately accepted a position at Peterson Associates, a local healthcare design firm where he worked as an intern and began honing his skills, building the foundation for the rest of his career. At the end of 2001, Mr. Terry was recruited to join the Charlotte office of Nashville based Gresham Smith and Partners, a recognized leader in the healthcare design industry. During his four years there, he worked on several complex healthcare projects and was elevated to a project management role for the first time. Between 2005 and 2016, Mr. Terry served RPA Design as a project manager and ultimately an associate principal. During his tenure there, Mr. Terry honed his skills as a leader and an effective manager of project teams and financials. These skills would launch him into his next opportunity, a position with FreemanWhite, a Haskell Company as a senior project manager in 2016. During his six years there, he managed several projects including a $156 million expansion to Mease Countryside Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Mr. Terry gained attention across the firm with his effective management methods, facilitating a successful project that earned approximately 17% in profit for the firm, equating to about $1.5M. Haskell recognized this project as their "Project of the Year" in 2016.
Currently, in addition to his position as the director of the Charlotte Office, Mr. Terry serves as the lead design project manager for a full hospital campus project for Roper St. Francis Healthcare in North Charleston, South Carolina. Mr. Terry is considered to be a valued member of a talented design team. He seeks to lead by example and foster an environment of collaboration, support, and empowerment.
