His understanding that each patient's life represents a complex mosaic, composed of a myriad of layers, led to his adoption of a bio-psycho-social-spiritual template for psychotherapy
SAN MARCOS, CA, November 27, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Geoffrey Nusbaum, PhD, psychotherapist with Medpsych Associates, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the New York City, regional edition of Forbes magazine.
Referring to himself as a product of his generation, Dr. Geoffrey D. Nusbaum was inspired by the works of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Dr. C.G. Jung. Through the experience of psychotherapy as a clinical practitioner for more than 40 years, he became increasingly aware of the convergence of psychotherapy and various forms of spirituality. His understanding that each patient's life represents a complex mosaic, composed of a myriad of layers, led to his adoption of a bio-psycho-social-spiritual template for psychotherapy and collaboration with other medical professionals.
Currently serving as a psychotherapist with Medpsych Associates, Dr. Nusbaum has also worked out of a private practice since 1972. Earlier in his career, he was a consultant for the New York Fertility Research Foundation in New York City from 1978 to 1983 and a consultant for The Bancroft School from 1983 to 1987.
In addition to his direct work, Dr. Nusbaum is a dedicated researcher, writer and manuscript reviewer to various scientific journals. He is the author of the 1978 chapter "The Country Place: An Intentional Therapeutic Community" in the Community, Self and Identity Textbook. Looking ahead, he hopes in five years' time to be in good health, thereby allowing him to still help those around him. Although his career has been suffused with highlights, he is especially proud of aiding his patients and their families.
Dr. Nusbaum is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, North American Society for Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynecology, New York Academy of Science, American Board of Medical Psychotherapists, American Academy of Psychotherapists, World Federation for Mental Health, International College of Psychosomatic Medicine and Mensa International. He is also one of the co-founders of the Psychological Issues Section of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and formerly was a board member of the Calcutta House AIDS Hospice, founded by Mother Theresa's Missionary Brothers of Charity in Philadelphia.
Dr. Nusbaum received a Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis in 1967. He went on to achieve a Master of Arts in 1971 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1978, both from the Hartford Seminary Foundation. He is also a fellow and diplomate of American University in Washington, D.C. Today, Dr. Nusbaum is a licensed therapist, a certified therapist by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and a fellow and diplomate of the American Board of Medical Psychotherapy.
