He was also the interim vice president for administration and finance at California State University, the vice chancellor of finance and administrative affairs at Indiana University and Purdue University, and the vice chancellor of finance and administrative services at Louisiana State University. Additionally, Dr. Wesse held several senior-level management positions at the University of North Florida, KPMG Higher Education Consulting, and Northwestern University.

Involved with various local organizations and initiatives that support business, community, and nonprofit sectors, Dr. Wesse is a member, past president, and former vice president of Kiwanis International and a member of the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce. He also held various leading roles for other noteworthy organizations throughout his career, including as the treasurer of the Northern Indiana Innovation Center, as a board member for the Alexandria Metropolitan Foundation, as an elder for Redeemer Lutheran Church, and as a board member of the Central Louisiana Business Incubator and the Administrative Management Society Foundation.
Highly educated, Dr. Wesse earned an Associate of Arts from South Suburban College in 1971, a Bachelor of Science in education from Illinois State University in 1973, a Master of Science in industrial relations from Loyola University in 1983, and a Doctor of Philosophy in workforce development from Louisiana State University in 2012. He also received credentials as a certified administrative manager.
Continually committed to various professional organizations in support of his career, Dr. Wesse is a member of the Administrative Management Society, the Academy of Administrative Management, the Professional Office Management Association of Chicago, the National Management Association, and the National Association of College and University Business Officers. Moreover, he was affiliated as a member and seminar leader for the Association of College Administration Professionals in 1995, 1998, and 1999.
In light of his professional success, Dr. Wesse received several Cost Reduction Awards from the National Association of College and University Business Officers between 1986 and 1992, an Excellence in Journalism Award from the National Association of College Auxiliary Services in 1989, and a Service Recognition Award from Riverdale Public Library District in 1975.
