Rev. Graves is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and a community leader who has dedicated more than 25 years to the Kiwanis Club of State College. Before entering ministry, she attended Ithaca College, earning a Bachelor of Science in music education and an MST from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. As a part of her dedication to deeper learning and service to others, she continued her education at Lancaster Theological Seminary, which awarded her a Master of Divinity in 1992.
Rev. Graves has spent the majority of her career leading and supporting local faith communities as a minister and pastor for 11 different United Church of Christ congregations during times of transition between settled pastors. She has served on the local Association of the United Church of Christ Committee on Ministry and Conference Commission on Ministry. She was named interim pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ from 2013 until 2015, helping maintain consistency and organizational strength during a transitional period. In 2018, Rev. Graves became moderator for the Penn Central Conference of the United Church of Christ, where she acted as lead and acting Conference Minister during the challenging process of electing a new conference minister in 2021.
In addition to her pastoral care and leadership work, Rev. Graves is a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club with more than 25 years of active service. She was elected president of her local chapter twice, and served as club secretary for 12 years, developing a strong reputation for her integrity, management skills, and commitment to the group's mission. Ms. Graves was a trustee for region 3, serving on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania District of Kiwanis between 2012 and 2016.
Rev. Graves credits her success to her work ethic, faith, and the leadership skills that she has developed throughout her life, emphasizing that she has never let adversity prevent her from pursuing what she felt called to do. In her personal time, Rev. Graves enjoys sewing, reading and gardening.
