Ms. Thuerauf was born in the Philippines and began learning how to cook alongside her family at age six. Raised on a farm growing coconuts without electricity, she garnered expertise in making meals on woodburning stoves. When she was ready to marry, Ms. Thuerauf and her husband chose to immigrate to the U.S. and begin her career in the restaurant industry.
Ms. Thuerauf has also found success as the owner of Norie Restobar in Guttenberg, Iowa. Looking toward the future, she aims to have her youngest daughter take over the restaurant's operations.
As part of her continued commitments to her business and community, Ms. Thuerauf has been an active member of the Dyersville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Filipino-American Association. In her spare time, she also volunteers by feeding people experiencing homelessness.
In light of her accomplishments, Ms. Thuerauf was featured in 365 Inc. She was also interviewed by CBS News in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She attributes her success to the work ethic she developed while coming of age and the support of her late husband.
