Leveraging more than a decade of excellence in architecture and design, Mr. Halvorson has earned distinction as the founder of 7fold, which he established in 2018. His vision has always been to help others unlock their full creative expression through the power of design technology as he discovered in his own practice. This led to developing best in class courses for the latest digital tools and providing architecture firms with curated consulting service to implement digital transformation across their practices. He has a knack for making complex topics simple and actionable so teams can see how to collaborate best and move forward with enthusiasm. In addition, he is a valued member of the AIA TAP (Technology in Architecture Practice) and a founding member of Darren Hardy's "The Hero's Journey" leadership development program and community.
Before establishing 7fold, Mr. Halvorson began his career while still in architecture school as a graphic designer with Blue Phoenix Web Design in 2011, a company he and his brother developed together. He interned during summers between semesters at BWBR in 2013 and HGA in 2014 leading into his final year at North Dakota State University (NDSU) where he also worked as a graduate research assistant while completing his studies. He earned his Bachelor's of Science in Architecture in 2014 and Master's of Architecture in 2015 both from NDSU. While pursuing his education, he was a talented triple jump athlete for North Dakota State Track and Field for the 2010-11 season.
In 2015, he launched into architecture practice full time moving to California joining HDR's practice in San Francisco. While there he was exposed to a range of practice types in healthcare, science & technology, and transit oriented design working as a design coordinator and participating in all phases of design.
In his spare time, he developed a small 3,500 person following on YouTube sharing technical workflows he discovered while at NDSU and into the early days of HDR. This sparked his passion for education, teaching, and business outside of core business hours from 2015-2018 and ultimately led to the launch of 7fold with its own YouTube presence respectively.
In 2019, Timothy left traditional architecture practice to become a Computational Designer as part of a team developing custom light gauge ornamental steel framing assemblies for a high profile museum project in the United States at Martin Brothers based in Los Angeles. There he was exposed to the world of design-build and caught fresh vision for how the future could have the return of the "master builder" ethos. He saw how designs could flow seamlessly from concept to completion when integrated with a robust technology strategy ushering in a new era of mass customization and use of digital twin models for building operations.
From 2020-2023 he joined Gensler as a Regional Design Technology Leader overseeing the technology strategy on key projects, leading initiatives to elevate the use of tools in computational design, building performance simulation, and BIM, in addition to in-house proprietary tools. He was responsible for driving digital transformation by providing in-house consulting to 850+ designers in a region of 6 offices and 1,000+ people as part of a dynamic team of technology experts.
Within the coming years, Mr. Halvorson intends to continue his success with 7fold to establish it as the trusted partner in technology for the industry. His vision is to leave his stamp on people more than drawing sets as a legacy marked by transforming the next generation of high performing designers that revolutionize our industry.
