A seasoned engineer with years of expertise to his credit, Mr. Cooley is the Site Electrical Engineer for Evonik, where he manages a _$10 million capital budget for electrical infrastructure. Simultaneously, he manages electrical distribution within Evonik's Utilities infrastructure as well as capital projects for Evonik plants across the North American Region. Prior to obtaining his current role, he worked as an electrical engineer for Packaging Corporation of America and as a software engineering intern for Red Lion Controls. During the early stages of his career, Mr. Cooley gained valuable expertise as an electrical apprentice with Pure Power Inc.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Cooley earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Generation, Renewable Energy, and Control Systems from the University of South Alabama. Over the years, he also received certifications in low, medium, and high-voltage work, power system analysis, ControlLogix Fundamentals and Troubleshooting, electrical safety, and more through EasyPower, E-hazard, NCEES, the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, Rockwell Automation, and the Alabama Technology Network. In March of 2023, Mr. Cooley became a licensed professional engineer in the state of Alabama. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Cooley aligns himself with Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers, NFPA, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Alongside his work, Mr. Cooley has contributed to his community as a volunteer researcher at the University of South Alabama and as a judge for the Best Robotics Competition. In light of his professional achievements, he received the MACE/Raburn Scholarship through the Mobile Area Council of Engineers and was inducted into the Eta Kappa Nu Honor Society.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Cooley takes the most pride in leveraging his construction expertise to seamlessly transition into the field of electrical engineering.
