NEW YORK, NY, December 11, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Helen Costantino Fioratti has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Fioratti is an artist, writer, and celebrated antiques and fine art dealer known for her expertise in Renaissance and 18th century French and Italian furniture. Inspired by her mother, Ruth, who became the first female antiques dealer in the United States, Ms. Fioratti attended the Parsons School of Design and earned a bachelor's degree at New York University.
She garnered praise early in her career as a fine artist, showing at galleries throughout New York and selling out two one-woman shows at the Sagittarius Gallery in 1960 and 1962. During this period, her work was held in the private collections of numerous New York City notables, with fans including the late Greta Garbo, Greek shipping magnate Stavros Niarchos, and members of the British royal family. In 1963, Ms. Fioratti established L'Antiquaire, an antiques and fine art dealership where she gained a reputation for her in-depth knowledge of French and Italian art, decor items, and antiquities. She became vice president of another art dealership, The Connoisseur, the same year, and in 1981, the firms merged to become L'Antiquaire and the Connoisseur, Incorporated, where Ms. Fioratti remains active as president and continues to source works for a portfolio of high-profile clients.
As a subject matter expert in works from several eras and regions, Ms. Fioratti has written several books including "Illuminating Their World," "Please Be Seated," "How to Know French Antiques," and "Playing Games: Games and their Players from Antiquity to the Present." She is the author and illustrator of "Il Mobile Italiano," published in 2004, and has lectured on various topics in her field. In addition to her scholarship, Ms. Fioratti has enjoyed success as an interior decorator, and has worked on projects in Italy, France, and England as well as commissions for the Kuwaiti royal family. Among the highlights of her design work are restoration work on a 15th century Florentine villa and several buildings in a medieval hamlet outside Siena, including a 10th century church.
Ms. Fioratti sits on the board of the Art & Antique Dealers League of America, and Accademia Italiana della Cucina, which honored her for 25 years of invaluable contributions. She is the recipient of numerous academic and industry accolades, including a 2021 Candace Wheeler Interior Design Award, and Antique Dealer of the Year awards from the Top 100 Registry and The Round Table magazine. Ms. Fioratti looks forward to continuing to influence the art and design worlds in coming years and splitting her time between New York and Florence. In her personal time, Ms. Fioratti is an avid home chef and patissiere and maintains an active creative practice as a painter.
