Dr. Lee is a licensed clinical psychologist, licensed clinical social worker, and educator celebrating more than 38 years of leadership in his field. His interest in a career in mental health was sparked by early experiences with his family and further inspired by the example set for him by his teachers. He completed his Doctor of Psychology degree at Adler University in 2013, and holds a Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor (CADC) credential in addition to his professional licenses.
Between 2008 and 2021, Dr. Lee was a professor of social work at Olivet Nazarene University, where he quickly became a beloved faculty member with a reputation for building strong student and staff connections and for teaching with compassion and a big-picture perspective on topics in the field. He considers his time at Olivet Nazarene University to be one of the highlights of his career, and is proud to have been an invited keynote speaker for numerous conferences and continuing education units, including a 2019 conference in which he presented with two of his students. Dr. Lee was granted professor emeritus status by the university in 2022, and he began working in a clinical capacity for Wexford Health Services, a healthcare company specializing in staffing providers for correctional facilities. In 2023, Dr. Lee rose from a staff psychologist for Wexford Health Services to the role as mental health unit director, taking on a broader range of leadership and administrative responsibilities in addition to coordinating patient services.
Dr. Lee credits his success to the support of his mentors, teachers, and supervisors, and remains grateful for their willingness to invest in his development throughout his career. He remains passionate about his work and the potential that it has to create change, and he plans to remain in corrections for three more years before retiring to pursue other avenues. Dr. Lee is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Illinois Psychological Association. Outside his work in mental health, he has been active in his community as a volunteer and supporter of numerous charitable outreach projects, including participation in the Presence St. Mary's Hospital Cancer Relay for Life.
