Mr. Schaill is a career United States Army officer and officer trainer who has dedicated more than 30 years of his career to leadership, service, and education. He graduated from Florida State University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in economics, econometrics, and quantitative economics, and continued his education throughout his military career. Mr. Schaill was awarded a Master of Business Administration in operations research and systems analysis by the Florida Institute of Technology in 1995, and completed a Master of Arts in strategic arts, military planning, and operations through the School of Advanced Military Studies in 1998. In 2006, he earned a third graduate degree, a Master of Military Arts and Sciences in military security, policy, and strategy, from the United States Army War College.
Mr. Schaill quickly developed a reputation for his integrity and leadership ability, and in 1992, he became company commander for the 24th Infantry Division. He joined the Defense Intelligence Agency at Redstone Arsenal as an intelligence analyst in 1994, departing to become chief of plans for the 1st Cavalry Division in 1998. After spending one year as a battalion executive officer for the United States Army supervising more than $100 million in equipment and 775 staff, Mr. Schaill was named the United States Army's first Stryker battalion commander in 2002. He oversaw testing, development, and training for the new vehicles and their field strategy at Fort Lewis until 2004, when he was appointed a deputy Stryker brigade commander for a one-year combat deployment to Iraq.
Between 2006 and 2009, Mr. Schaill excelled as a brigade combat team commander at Fort Bliss, establishing the Future of Combat System Brigade, and conducting training and operations in partnership with a Saudi Arabian unit in preparation for deployment in Iraq. He was made Chief of Staff at Fort Bliss in 2009, supervising the third-largest military installment in the country with more than 31,000 enlisted persons and civilian staff. The following year, Mr. Schaill served as Chief of Staff/executive officer with the United States Forces Iraq coordinating integration and planning in the creation of Iraqi security force teams. From 2011 until 2013, he was director of training and doctrine at the United State Army Maneuver Center of Excellence, managing the development of training, fitness, and leadership development across several types of Army units. Following retirement from active duty, Mr. Schaill consulted for Booz Allen Hamilton developing FORSCOM cybersecurity policies and training.
Mr. Schaill's proven record of excellence in education and executive leadership led him to a post as program manager for the United States Army's sexual assault and sexual harassment prevention programs, which he helped develop and administer to more than 300,000 personnel between 2014 and 2020. Since 2020, Mr. Schaill has brought his experience to Valient Services, where he is an officer senior trainer for the Florida, Puerto Rico and United States Virgin Islands National Guard.
