She also aspires to become an expert in disaster management whilst advocating and influencing change regarding environmental issues.
Ms. Moorhouse is active locally as a member of the Daughters of the British Empire, is part of the Lakewood Community Emergency Response Team in Colorado, and is taking FEMA incident command certificate courses. She recently completed the Douglas County Sheriff's Office 2023 Citizens Academy. She has volunteered with Project C.U.R.E., a nonprofit, since 2022. She was formerly involved with various other nonprofit and civic organizations, including the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, the American Red Cross, and STEM School Highlands Ranch. Moreover, Ms. Moorhouse spent over 35 years affiliated with the Scouting Association in the UK; and from 2013 to 2016 with the Boy Scouts of America. Roles included assistant cub scout leader, assistant scout leader, and assistant venture scout leader between 1980 and 2016.
A graduate of the University of Huddersfield, Ms. Moorhouse received a Bachelor of Arts in computing in business, with honors, in 1995. While pursuing her degree, she did a partial internship on a Library Management Information System development project at the Istituto Universitario Europeo in Fiesole, Italy, a second full internship at Aston Business School, Birmingham, UK, and a final year research project for the University of Huddersfield's library in online search techniques.
