Aside from treating patients, Dr. Sanz has been an affiliate assistant professor at the University of South Florida Medical School since 2013 and a consultant and educator for child psychiatry fellow candidates for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry boards since 2016. Additionally, Dr. Sanz sits on a professional advisory board, where she has the autonomy to share her opinions about guidelines for treating mental conditions.
In the industry for more than 45 years, Dr. Sanz has garnered success in various health care settings as an affiliate, part-time, and full-time psychiatrist and consultant. She also taught as an assistant professor at her alma mater, the University of Puerto Rico, in the school of medicine from 1988 to 1991 and as a mathematics professor in 1978.
Dr. Sanz enjoys every opportunity to give back by volunteering in various roles at area churches. She aims to continually become more involved, hoping to serve as a positive role model for others.
Dr. Sanz began her academic pursuits at the University of Puerto Rico, earning a Bachelor of Arts in pre-medicine, magna cum laude, in 1978, followed by a Doctor of Medicine in 1982. She also completed a psychiatry internship and residency on campus. Furthermore, Dr. Sanz completed a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She is licensed to practice medicine in Florida and is board-certified through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Child Psychiatry.
Actively professionally, Dr. Sanz maintains membership with several prominent medical organizations. Among them, she is active with the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Medical Association, the Medical Association of Puerto Rico, the Society of Graduated Physicians of the Medical Sciences Campus, and the National Health Service Corporation.
