Since 2021, he has focused his efforts on engaging in community forums and community-based organizations to share his expertise in collaborating with older adults with HIV, providing organizations with training on how to better involve the community, especially older adults, in making decisions for their own health. He also raises awareness for the individuals who have experienced two pandemics in their lifetimes, the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and the recent COVID-19 pandemic.
Outside of his primary career efforts, Mr. Francis is a quality improvement coach with the Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) Program, which he joined in 2023 to help support the development of novel models for caring for people with HIV. He has also been a community liaison for the New York City Metropolitan Area since 2021. Prior to starting his private sector career, he worked in the music industry for five years and for Hess Oil for another five. He subsequently joined Soho Generation of New York, Inc. and was a fashion designer for Panzai for 30 years. Following this period, he served as an advocacy coordinator for Forging Ahead for Community Empowerment and Support (FACES) NY, Inc. in 2015. To prepare for his professional journey, he competed coursework in marketing at Long Island University.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Francis was honored with a Community Recognition Award in 2003 and a Rebirth of Advocacy Proclamation in 2006, both from New York State. He also received a proclamation from Gale Brewer in 2020 and an award from the Coalition on Positive Health Empowerment in 2022. Looking to the future, Mr. Francis intends to continue advocating for consumers' voices to be heard and continue his consulting work for those who are part of underserved communities.
