In light of her success, Dr. Balogh has appeared in over a dozen radio and television interviews in Argentina and U.S.A, discussing her research.
LEVITTOWN, PA, December 22, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gabriela Andrea Balogh, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Balogh is noted for her success and tenure in breast cancer research and prevention. She is currently representing The American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), as an active member of that organization, pursuing her degree as MLS in US. Dr. Balogh has also found success as an adjunct microbiology professor and organic chemistry assistant professor at Holy Family University in Philadelphia since 2018 and as a full-time Science (Biology/Chemistry) teacher at the International Christian High School in Philadelphia since 2018.
Having begun her career in breast cancer prevention research in her home country of Argentina, Dr. Balogh subsequently joined Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia as a postdoctoral research associate, senior research associate, and research staff member. She also worked at Texas A&M University as a research associate, IACA Laboratories as a molecular biologist staff member, South National University (UNS) as a scientist, and the National Council for Research from Argentina (CONICET) and the Medical Research Institute (BIOMED) from Argentine Catholic University (UCA), as an associate professor/senior research Scientist.
Throughout her tenure, Dr. Balogh has conducted extensive studies, garnered numerous grants, and published approximately 47 scholarly articles in such journals as Molecular and Cell Endocrinology, Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev, and the Journal of Cell Biochemistry, among others. She also contributed chapters to six scientific books and co-authored two texts. Additionally, Dr. Balogh attended and has been involved in many national/international conferences at Scientific meetings around the world.
Most notably, Dr. Balogh's research has resulted in a significant advance in breast cancer research by discovering the effect of 1,3 beta glucans from Maitake mushroom, which can prevent up to 65% of breast cancer development in BALBc mice. This discovery can serve as a supplement to help chemotherapy directly and specifically target tumor cells and minimize secondary effects on patients. Moreover, these 1,3 -glucans compounds boost the immune system and allow immune cells to attack tumor cells, thus making it a potentially effective adjuvant treatment for human breast cancer. Dr. Balogh is working to develop a clinical trial I/II employing Maitake Pro4X in high risk-breast cancer patients.
Highly educated, Dr. Balogh received a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and a Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry from the National University of the South in Argentina in 1994 and 1998, respectively. She is an active member of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
In light of her success, Dr. Balogh has appeared in over a dozen radio and television interviews in Argentina and U.S.A, discussing her research. She was also featured in the U.S. on FOX News on a show titled "Possible New Ways to Battle Cancer" talking about her promissory results obtained with Maitake Pro4X in mice's breast cancer prevention model.
