A respected architect in the industry for nearly 40 years, Mr. McKelvey began serving as the architecture department manager at DPS Engineering (now Arcadis) in 2016. Arcadis is based in Framingham, Massachusetts, and is recognized as a global consulting, engineering, and construction management firm catering to high-tech industries worldwide with experts in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Mr. McKelvey currently holds 34 architect licenses in the United States and has built and is managing an award-winning architectural design team involved in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical design. Mr. McKelvey and his design team worked diligently through the COVID-19 pandemic working with major biotechnical companies to design and construct laboratories to manufacture life-saving vaccines.
A leader in architecture and construction, Mr. McKelvey began his career as a builder during his teen years, receiving a diploma in building construction technology from the Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in 1987 and working for local construction companies and starting his own construction business. Among his roles, he furthered his construction and management skills while working in real estate management, managing the renovations of a high-rise luxury apartment building in Boston's Back Bay through 1996.
Mr. McKelvey obtained a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Boston Architectural Center in 2004. Mr. McKelvey notably garnered success as a project architect for AECOM in Boston, Massachusetts, and was recognized for his work on several projects of national importance, including designing the first federally-operated security checkpoint at Logan International Airport after the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks and working in Manhattan, New York on the new World Trade Center Transportation Hub at Ground Zero.
Mr. McKelvey also worked as a project manager at Vanderweil Engineers in Boston working on some of the nation's largest data center facilities throughout the United States.
Throughout his career, Mr. McKelvey has always been forward thinking and looking toward the future. His goals include making substantial architectural contributions toward solutions to the world's most critical issues that affect all of humanity.
Giving back to his community, Mr. McKelvey has volunteered with various nonprofit organizations, including Habitat for Humanity. He has chaired the Town of Ashland Massachusetts' Design Review Committee and has performed as a thesis advisor at Boston Architectural College.
As part of his continued commitments to the industry, Mr. McKelvey is a certified member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Boston Society of Architects. He is also affiliated with MassBio, and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.
