With more than a decade of excellence in film sound, Mr. Siebum has been an audio engineer and sound editor for Outpost Studio SF since 2023. He is also a contributing writer for Krotos and A Sound Effect. Passionate about his field, he also lends his expertise as a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and the Motion Picture Sound Editors.
Outside of his primary career efforts, Mr. Siebum has earned distinction as a lecturer with San Francisco State University. Since 2023, he has focused his efforts on educating students within the broadcast and electronic communication arts department, which encompasses the radio, television and film programs. He teaches courses on sound production for television and film to business and is presently focused on media entrepreneurship, which he is teaching with great enthusiasm. Additionally, he is a valued member of the Audio Engineering Society and on the roster for the IATSE Motion Picture Editors Guild 700.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Siebum was a student assistant for database administration for the State of California from 2000 until 2005 and worked as an audio engineer for The Studio Theatre in 2003. Following this time, he was a radio DJ and on-air personality for KDHR.net from 2005 until 2007 and underwent an internship with The Shelter Studios in 2006. He subsequently served as a sound editor for PerreoRadio.com in 2006, a warehouse manager for Rebel Crew Films in 2007 and a production assistant for Trade Pro Media the same year. In 2009, he was an assistant sound editor for D Film for a year and interned with Wild Woods Post and Hacienda Post.
Mr. Siebum continued his career as a monitor mixer for Whiskey a Go Go in 2011. During this time, he also served as an audio engineer for AEG from 2007 until 2013 and was an audio engineer and audiovisual technician with Pacific Coast Entertainment starting in 2010. In 2011, he also worked as a live sound engineer for Harvelle's and was an audio engineer for Swing House, taking roles as a freelance audio engineer for the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center and as an audio engineer for Pac-12 Networks in 2012. He also lent his expertise as an audiovisual technician for Avista, as an intern with One Union Recording Studios and as an audiovisual technician for Got Light. He later worked with other notable companies such as Wish, City College of San Francisco, Bee Audio and M Squared Productions LLC until becoming a freelance sound editor and re-recording mixer for First Generation in 2018.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Siebum received an Honorable Mention for Comedy/Drama from the Broadcast Education Association in 2016, won third place for the PSA category and won first place for Multimedia Sound Design the same year. He also won first place for sound design from the 2017 AICE and received Best Sound Design Feature Film at the 2021 Tietê International Film Awards. Added to these, he was honored with another award for sound design by the Telly Awards in 2023.
To prepare for his professional journey, Mr. Siebum earned an Associate of Arts in audio production from Sacramento City College and a Bachelor of Arts in digital media arts and audio recording with a minor in Africana studies from California State University-Dominguez Hills in 2007. Following these achievements, he attained a Master of Arts in broadcast and electronic communications arts from San Francisco State University in 2015.
Within the coming years, Mr. Siebum intends to become more involved in film and television productions and is actively searching for stimulating and innovative projects to collaborate on. He greatly enjoys sharing different perspectives and demonstrating that there are multiple ways of approaching a given situation or concept. In particular, he is interested in collaborating with directors and filmmakers who produce high-quality, impactful and innovative work.
