He diagnoses oral conditions when they present in his patients and offers minor oral surgeries, restoration and prevention procedures. Additionally, he is a valued member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Public Health Association's oral health committee, the Virginia Public Health Association's epidemiology committee, the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps and the Academy of General Dentistry in the United States. Before his present role, Dr. Ekoh worked as a dental house officer for the University of Benin Teaching Hospital in Nigeria in 2011 and was a dental surgeon for the Federal Medical Centre in Jigawa, Nigeria in 2012, earning a promotion to a senior dental officer in 2016. In 2017, he served as a presiding chairman for the Greater New York Dental Meeting, as a research associate for Liberty University and as a dental assistant for the Free Clinic of Central Virginia. He continued his career as a public health intern with Centra Health in 2019 and became a group home team leader for Cabaniss Consultants LLC in 2020. Following this time, he functioned as a teaching assistant for preclinical endodontics for the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2022.
Among his professional accomplishments, Dr. Ekoh won Awards for Applied Research from Liberty University's Center for Research and Scholarships, and Virginia Public Health Association Scientific Conference Poster Presentation in 2018 for his work on "Patterns of influenza-like illness and vaccination coverage on Liberty University's Campus." He also received a Certificate of Recognition from Ralph S. Northam, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2021 and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Virginia State Department of Health the same year for his outstanding role in controlling the spread of the novel coronavirus in the State of Virginia.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Ekoh earned a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the University of Benin in Nigeria in 2011 and attained a certificate in principles and practice of clinical research from the National Institute of Health (NIH) Clinical Center. Following these achievements, he gained a Master of Public Health (MPH) in epidemiology from Liberty University in 2019 and a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2023. Well-qualified in his field, he is certified by the Commonwealth of the Virginia Board of Dentistry, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and the American Dental Association (ADA).
Within the coming years, Dr. Ekoh intends to become a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and the International College of Dentists. He also plans to establish his own dental practice, providing care to as many people as possible throughout the United States. Dedicated to helping underserved communities, he contributes his expertise to Lynchburg Virginia, a rural community with increasing oral health concerns, and has been instrumental in restoring the community's confidence.
