Leveraging more than a decade of excellence in higher education, Mr. Lopez has earned distinction as the associate director of admissions for The Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver. Since 2023, he has focused his efforts on recruiting, student support, and assisting students with getting into their colleges and programs. He manages marketing and recruitment campaigns seeking graduate students and works with faculty and departments daily to hone their voice and develop the student profile they require for their programs. He also helps determine the best way to find matches for students who are looking for graduate education. Additionally, he is a valued member of the Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Chi, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals, and Advance CTE.
Before his present role, Mr. Lopez worked as a customer service supervisor for Innotrac in 2000 and was a peer advisor, assistant director of commencement, and student body vice president for the Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2004. Following this time, he was a graduate assistant and program coordinator for the University of Texas San Antonio in 2011 and became a special assistant to the chief executive officer for KIPP San Antonio in 2014.
In 2015, Mr. Lopez served as a math content special education paraprofessional for KIPP San Antonio, taking a role as an IB theory of knowledge and humanities 101 dual credit teacher in 2016. He subsequently served as an achievement coach and advisor for the Community College of Aurora, becoming a pathways advisor in 2019. He continued his career as the associate dean of health and administration for Emily Griffith Technical College in 2020 and was a postsecondary workforce specialist for the Colorado Department of Education in 2023.
To prepare for his professional journey, Mr. Lopez earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in philosophy from the Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2007. Following this achievement, he attained a Master of Arts in liberal arts from St. John's College in 2010 and a Master of Education in higher education leadership and policy studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2017.
Within the coming years, Mr. Lopez intends to complete a Doctor of Education in higher education, leadership, and policy studies and subsequently publish numerous works he has been developing. He plans to rise into an executive leadership role, allowing him to have greater reach over budget and personnel resources to focus on building mentorship opportunities for students.
