Retired since 1996, Dr. Imogene Mathison Mixson cultivated a successful career of academic excellence as an educator. Between 1959 and 1996, she taught English at Dothan High School. In that time, Dr. Mixson quickly gained recognition for her dedication in the field, and in 1966, she joined Enterprise State Community College as an English instructor and was named English department chair in 1968, a role in which she served until 1982. From 1982 to 1996, she operated at Wallace State Community College as an English instructor and the academic dean until her retirement.
