Shirley, PhD, retired physicist and consultant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, has been selected for a cover feature in the Fourteenth Edition of Marquis Millennium Magazine. Drawing upon a BA from Middlebury College and a PhD from the California Institute of Technology in 1957 and 1963, respectively, Dr. Jon H. Shirley accrued 55 years of experience in physics and research prior to his retirement in 2018. Commencing his career in 1963, he served the National Bureau of Standards in Boulder, Colorado, as a physicist for a decade. Subsequently, he briefly served as a research associate at the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Helsinki in Finland before joining the Joint Institute Laboratory of Astrophysics as a consultant in 1978. Following his departure from the institute, Dr. Shirley was a consultant for the National Institute of Standards and Technology between 1983 and 2018.
