Previously, Mr. Johnson gained valuable expertise in educational administration as the vice president of advancement for The College of Idaho, Niagara University, and Houghton College, through which he maintained responsibility for fund development, alumni relations, and marketing. During his tenure at Houghton College, he became the first seasoned professional hired to lead fund development efforts. Fundraising initiatives had never exceeded $4 million a year prior to his arrival. However, within three years, the school's campaign grew from $15 million to $50 million. Similarly, he honed his management skills as the senior director of Ketchum, Inc. Before embarking on his professional journey, he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering in 1973. Subsequently, Mr. Johnson expanded upon his professional knowledge, earning a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, a Master of Divinity in Ethics from Yale University, and a fundraising executive certification through CFRE International.
Alongside his work, Mr. Johnson contributes to his community by participating in veterans' initiatives in the area, serving as a member of The Carter Center's Philanthropy Council, and providing pro bono service to embryonic organizations.
