Over the years, Mr. Nessenthaler has honed his expertise in the field as the Vice President of Finance and Head of Real Estate Capital Markets for Keystone Group, an emerging owner/operator based in Indianapolis, IN, and as Vice President of Special Situations & Restructuring for MUFG. During the early stages of his career, he was responsible for all aspects of the underwriting process, structuring, and placement of debt, mezzanine, and joint venture and Co-GP equity opportunities for a broad range of commercial real estate assets. He also originated on an exclusive basis over $700MM in debt and equity capital mandates for healthcare real estate transactions. He was part of the deal-team that won the Real Estate Board of New York's "Most Ingenious Deal of the Year" award for the construction financing of EmblemHealth's medical office building in East New York, NY.
Before establishing his reputation in the real estate industry, Mr. Nessenthaler received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate Finance from the University of North Texas. Subsequently, he expanded on his professional knowledge by earning a Master of International Real Estate Finance and a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University. After both of his parents succumbed to severe illnesses, and personally witnessing the severe inadequacies of America's healthcare system, Mr. Nessenthaler also earned a Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership from Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences in order to pursue transformative change in our healthcare industry. In addition to his formal education, Mr. Nessenthaler is also a CFA Charterholder ("CFA"), CAIA Charterholder ("CAIA"), Member of the Appraisal Institute ("MAI"), and a Counselor of Real Estate ("CRE") and is the only real estate professional in the world with all four professional designations.
In conjunction with his professional work, he contributes to his community through Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, where he is an advisory board member for its Center for Real Estate Studies. Likewise, he channels years of experience into his role as Vice Chairman of CFA Society New York's Alternative Investments Group.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Nessenthaler takes the most pride in his achievements as a real estate finance professor and being an active member of his community, inspiring the next generation of real estate leaders. Personally, he is honored and humbled to be the father of his wonderful, gifted four-year old son, Beau, and husband to his beautiful, intelligent wife of six years, Alexandra. Mr. and Mrs. Nessenthaler welcomed their second boy, Rhett, earlier this year. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his networking skills and positive attitude in the face of adversity. Looking ahead, Mr. Nessenthaler intends to expand his business globally, lead the initiative in building University of Louisville's Center for Real Estate, the first of its kind in the state of Kentucky, as well as publish a book.
