From 2008 to 2011, Dr. Charry founded and served as managing director of Global Initiatives, providing consulting services in energy efficiency. After restructuring, the company became known as NewEnergy Global LLC. Dr. Charry also worked for ManattJones Global Strategies between 2004 and 2008 as managing director and chief operating officer, during which time he was instrumental in expanding the company's offices and increasing its client base and revenue. Among other roles, Dr. Charry's involvement in higher education included serving on the faculties of The Rockefeller University and New York University. Dr. Charry has published extensively in peer review scientific and professional journals, as well as trade publications.
Active civically, Dr. Charry has been involved with his parish through numerous initiatives, including Georgetown Lutheran Church. He also donates to several other charitable organizations.
Dr. Charry graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science, cum laude, in 1970. He subsequently received a Doctor of Philosophy in applied social psychology from New York University in 1976. Dr. Charry received a Felix Warburg Foundation fellowship from New York University in 1976 and a Rockefeller Foundation fellowship in environmental affairs at The Rockefeller University from 1977 to 1978. He also became active with several leading industry-related organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Psychological Association, the New York Academy of Sciences, and The Rockefeller University Chapter of Sigma Xi. In light of his success, Dr. Charry received recognition in an article in The Washington Post.
