Notably, Mr. Agnew has enjoyed a significant tenure with the firm, which began in 2019 as an Officer and Underwriter within the Community Development Banking division, followed by a transition into the role of Development Manager and Officer in 2021, and culminating in a promotion to his current title, Assistant Vice President, in 2022.
Mr. Agnew's professional profile spans a broad range of diverse environments, including federal, state and local government; education; non-for-profit, for-profit, and corporate contexts. His professional career kicked off in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, starting with his role as an electrical engineer at the Joint Warfare Analysis Center, which ran from 2004 to 2006. Subsequently, he transitioned into the role of a cost analyst and consultant, which began at Missile Defense Agency from 2006 to 2007, and was followed by the Naval Sea Systems Command from 2007 through 2017, where he secured a promotion to senior cost analyst. Concurrently, he held positions as an intern at Eastern Senior High School from 2013 to 2014, and with the Office of Employee Assistance of the United States House of Representatives from 2014 to 2015. Having relocated to Atlanta, GA in 2016 to further his academic pursuits (more on this in further sections), he began the next phase of his professional career as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant with the Georgia Institute of Technology, which ran from 2016 through 2017, with a concurrent run as an Intern at the City and County of San Francisco Department of Public Works during the summer of 2017. In 2018, he worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, where he would remain through the completion of his academic pursuits. Following this, Mr. Agnew took on the role of Project Management Assistant, which was subsequently upgraded to Facilities Manager at the Atlanta Housing Authority.
Mr. Agnew boasts exceptional academic credentials. He holds both a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, from which he graduated summa cum laude in 2004. Following, Mr. Agnew pursued graduate studies, which began at The Catholic University of America, where he obtained a Master of Social Work in 2015. Lastly, he furthered his academic pursuits at Georgia Institute of Technology, culminating in a Master of Science in Public Policy as well as a Master of City and Regional Planning, having graduated with the honor of magna cum laude in 2018.
A number of accolades mark Mr. Agnew's critical achievements. He was humbled to have been nominated by his graduating cohorts to represent them as the speaker at the 2015 graduation ceremony of The Catholic University of America in 2015. Navy leadership bestowed upon him in 2016 a Letter of Appreciation for his leadership and efforts in developing the cost estimate at completion for the inactivation and disposal of the CVN 65 aircraft carrier, and he was also recognized with the Director's Award from the senior executive of the Cost Analysis Group in 2011 for his efforts in evaluating a massive contractor RFP submission. In 2017, he was nominated by his cohorts and faculty to receive the Glatting Jackson Kercher Fellowship Award. Most recently, in September 2023, Mr. Agnew, at the suggestion of his colleagues, had the honor and privilege of representing his firm at a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction of one of several mixed-income, mixed-use, multi-family buildings in a master redevelopment in Norfolk, VA, where he delivered a speech alongside a number of local, financing, and development partners.
Mr. Agnew attributes his various successes to his infinite curiosity, adaptability and courage in the face of adversity, as well as a willingness to learn from his mistakes. Additionally, he cites his ability to reasonably tolerate risk and uncertainty, as well as an innate ability to identify, connect with, and collaborate with individuals who possess the appropriate level of knowledge, skills, and connections to achieve outcomes.
