BABSON PARK, MA, January 18, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jerry L. Epps has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected based on current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Epps has been recognized for his contributions as the inaugural director of vendor diversity at Babson College in Babson Park, Massachusetts. Joining the institution in 2021, he has been tasked with developing and ensuring its brand-new program's ongoing success from the ground up. Mr. Epps has also been responsible for collaborating and cultivating relationships with small and diverse suppliers by offering them opportunities to work on campus.
Before joining Babson College, Mr. Epps was employed as a supplier diversity program manager by Boston Children's Hospital, renowned as a foremost pediatric research facility, between 2018 and 2021. However, he had been affiliated with the facility for over 40 years. During that time, he rose from working in food service, began working in purchasing in 1988 as an assistant buyer, and eventually earned the role of the hospital's capital equipment buyer and its supplier diversity program manager. Mr. Epps was also instrumental in developing the facility's supplier diversity program.
Having leveraged his distinguished career at Boston Children's Hospital, Mr. Epps was eager to do good work and apply his knowledge and experience at Babson College. Selected among six other candidates for the position, he works diligently to sustain the program's success. Mr. Epps is also eager for the program's future and to expand its reach by incorporating more small and diverse suppliers who can contribute value to the daily operations of the college campus.
In addition to his primary endeavors, Mr. Epps was active in internet radio for several years. He has also been involved locally on the board of directors of the Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council and nationally he's the NMSDC Education Industry Group Chairperson. Mr. Epps also sits on the Northeastern University Lab for Inclusive Entrepreneurship Supplier Diversity Advisory Council.
Mr. Epps graduated from Newbury College in 1989 with an Associate of Applied Science in business management. He also received an accounting certificate through Boston Business School, credentials as a certified supplier diversity professional through the Alliance of Supplier Diversity Professionals, and recognition as a Lean Six Sigma yellow belt.
Honoring his years of accomplishments, Mr. Epps was named among the Top 25 Diversity Change Leaders for 2023 in DiversityPlus Magazine. That same year, he received the Advocate of the Year Award from the Center for Women and a Shining Star Award from the Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council.
