Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in pediatric urology, Dr. Tobias has earned distinction as a pediatric nurse practitioner. Since 1989, she has focused her efforts on seeing children with bladder dysfunction, urinary tract infections, reflux, hypospadias, hernias, undescended testicles and other urologic conditions.
Since 2022, Dr. Tobias has worked with Nationwide Children's Hospital Toledo. Prior to this role, Dr. Tobias served as a urology pediatric nurse practitioner for the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in 1989 until becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner for Mercy Health Children's Hospital in 2015. Additionally, she was an adjunct faculty member for the University of Cincinnati's advisory committee for the nurse practitioner program from 1992 until 2015. She has also contributed written research to her field, including authoring "Practical considerations and current best practice in pediatric clean intermittent catheterization" for the journal Pediatric Nursing in 2017 and "Managing enuresis in primary care" for Contemporary Pediatrics in 2018. Her most recent contribution to be published in Urologic Nursing is entitled "Improving Parental Circumcision Education with Evidence-Based Guidelines." Among her professional accomplishments, she has been nominated for multiple Florence Nightingale Awards.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Tobias earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati in 1979. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in 1985 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Ohio State University in 2022. Well qualified in her field, she holds a certification as a pediatric acute care nurse practitioner from the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board and as a primary care nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Within the coming years, Dr. Tobias intends to engage in part-time teaching and consulting work, as she greatly enjoys mentoring other rising nursing professionals. She herself credits her success to the mentorship she received throughout her career from Dr. Laura Hayman, graduate pediatric nursing program director at the University of Pennsylvania and Dr. Curtis Sheldon, pediatric urologist with whom she worked for 20 years.
