As a highly-trained professional, he is tasked with operating a machine during heart surgery as part of a cardiac surgery team.
Before establishing his business, Mr. Abalo was a traveling perfusionist with Heartbeat Perfusion Solutions Inc. in 2022. He was also a staff perfusionist at Southern Illinois Healthcare from 2018 to 2021. Earlier, Mr. Abalo completed two perfusion clinical rotations in 2017 at Nebraska Medicine and the Children's Hospital of Arkansas.
Mr. Abalo is the founder of Friends of Togo, a philanthropic, nonprofit organization that has had a remarkable impact on the education system in his home country of Africa. Launched to help children, families, and communities break the cycle of poverty through education, health, and community efforts, he has successfully helped build classrooms, provide supplies to over 600 students, and garner recognition via a website with the assistance of the state and the Internal Revenue Service.
Mr. Abalo notably came to the U.S. on a soccer scholarship. He became drawn to the medical field while working as a housekeeper and then as a surgical sterile processor at a nearby hospital. He now holds an associate's degree in radiologic technology and as a science-radiographer from Clarkson College in 2011, a bachelor's degree in medical imaging from Clarkson College in 2011, and a master's degree in clinical perfusion from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2018. Mr. Abalo also received credentials as a certified clinical perfusionist.
Affiliated with several industry-related organizations in light of his success, Mr. Abalo is a member of the American Society of Extracorporeal Technology, the American Registry of Radiology Technologists, the American Society of Radiologists Technologist, and the United States Cardiothoracic Profusion Association. He was also inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success and Sigma Alpha Pi.
