FRANKLIN, MA, January 22, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John M. Zicko, PE, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected based on current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in 1983, Mr. Zicko proceeded to join Eversource Energy, formerly NSTAR and Boston Edison Company. He began his career as a field engineer troubleshooting, testing, and performing start up at substations, fossil, and nuclear generating stations. He then transferred to substation station design where he became manager. In the role, he primarily worked on the physical design of substations, taking on different responsibilities as needed, which, at one point, included working on district heating and cooling plants, projects for processing plants, hospitals, and wastewater treatment facilities. Mr. Zicko earned certification as professional engineer in the states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Since joining Eversource nearly four decades ago, Mr. Zicko earned a Master of Science in management from Lesley University in 1994 and has since taken on two additional directorial roles along with his initial management position: director of substation and overhead transmission line engineering in 2014 and director of capital projects engineering in 2020. Across his three leadership roles, he leverages his extensive professional experience—which includes strategic planning, operations, systems support, multi-faceted systems integration, and complex program and project management—to maintain his proven track record of implementing end-to-end scalable and reliable customer solutions. In all he has achieved professionally, Mr. Zicko attributes his success to his passion and enjoyment for his work as well as his willingness to learn and problem-solve independently.
Mr. Zicko cites his most notable achievement as entering the industry with no prior knowledge; now, after several decades, he is in a position to take charge of the company's largest and most highly-visible engineering projects. In the next five to 10 years, his goal is to continue to successfully be involved in increasing responsible roles and projects with high visibility. Coupled with his work for Eversource, Mr. Zicko plans to continue devoting his time to the Pan-Mass Challenge, a fundraising bike-a-thon that benefits the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the CT Cycling Advancement Program, which aims to put kids on bicycles in the state of Connecticut.
