With more than three decades of excellence in education and dance, Ms. Brown-Nardi has earned distinction as the head cheer coach, life coach, motivational speaker, curriculum writer, educator, consultant, teacher leader, inclusive leader, union representative, and artistic director in an Urban Public School District. Since 2002, she has focused her efforts on working with urban students and young female individuals to ensure they have a solid educational foundation to drive their futures. She is immensely passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of others with a particular commitment to empowering young people and women, providing them with the inclusive tools, knowledge, and skills they need to succeed in life and achieve their full potential.
Outside of her primary career efforts, Ms. Brown-Nardi has served as the head cheerleading coach for Orange High School's The Big "O" Cheer Squad since 2012 and has been a teacher leader, novice-teacher mentor, and small learning community coordinator for the New Jersey Department of Education while being an adjunct professor on the higher educational institution level. She holds cheerleading tryouts, and dance auditions, practices, rehearsals, and teaches her students various skills, including stunts, tumbles, dance capstones, and techniques while coaching and mentoring students for county, and state competitions and adjudications. Among her professional accomplishments, she was honored with a Leadership Award for 15 years of service from Orange Public Schools in 2022. Added to these, she is a valued member of the Dance New Jersey, New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association and Foundation for Educational Administration, National Honor Society for Dance Arts, School Leaders of Color Network, National Dance Education Organization, CASEL (Social Emotional Leader), Urban School Leaders Network, Restorative Solutions Inc (Restorative Schools and Community Trainer), New Jersey Schools Interscholastic Athletic Association, National Federation of State High School Associations, and Women in STEM Leadership. She is proud to have successfully placed dance scholars in numerous dance conservatories, universities such as CalArts, and UArts (Top Dance Programs), and professional dance companies throughout her career and to have received the Orange Board of Education Superintendent's Visual and Performing Arts Recognition Award, Principal Award, Co-Principals' Special Recognition Award, Outstanding City of Orange Mayor's Selected Community Candidate Award, and the Outstanding Inspirational Female Teacher Award by the high school student population's SPACE program.
Before her present role, Ms. Brown-Nardi began her career as a professional child actress and dancer during secondary school in North Carolina then financial aid undergraduate student assistant for Howard University, and became a professional dancer with The Hague Dance Company in 1998. She subsequently worked as a financial aid graduate student assistant for Sarah Lawrence College. During this time, she was a researcher and professional dancer in The Netherlands from 1999 until 2000, taking a role as a professional New York dancer with the Phyllis Rose Dance Company, and FUSHA Dance Company in 2002 while performing on the Alvin Ailey Extension's School stage to promote dance outreach in the New York Metropolitan area, and professional dancer touring the East Coast. She also was an environmental science teacher and librarian for the St. Mary Catholic High School of Jersey City in 2003 and a private school counselor there in 2004.
Ms. Brown-Nardi continued her career as an artistic director, and professional dancer for the Tosha Brown Dance Theater, Fusha Dance Company, and Phyllis Rose Dance Company in 2006 and was a dance advisor for The Mighty Marching Band Dance Line at Orange High School simultaneously while advising the Lincoln and Cheyney University's summer band dance camps. She also served as an adjunct professor of dance for the Sports and Intramural Recreation School; Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; and Essex County College from 2004 until 2016. In 2012, she was a cheer camp director, head counselor, and teacher leader for the Honorable Dwayne Warren's Summer Camp in the City of Orange, New Jersey. She was a yearly visiting advisor for Cheyney University's Band- Marching Auxiliary Dance Line and Color Guard from 2010 until 2018.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Brown-Nardi earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance and children's theater from Howard University. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Fine Arts in dance and musical theater from Sarah Lawrence College. Thoroughly qualified in her field, she is a certified innovation in arts and culture leader by Vanderbilt University and is certified in youth mental health first aid by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. She also holds NJDOE teacher certifications, teacher leader, supervisor, and principal certifications, among other credentials.
Looking to the future, Ms. Brown-Nardi intends to continue empowering young adolescents and women. This will enable her to become an inclusive urban educational leader and to establish a Humanities Department consisting of Curriculum and Instructional Pedagogy Practices, Language Arts, Literacy, and Visual and Performing Arts programs that foster female support outlets and build a strong support system for women artists. Her goal is to provide a platform for inclusive women to connect and share their experiences from all walks of life to uplift one another in a culturally responsive arts environment.
