Michelle D. Russell was born to Dave and Joyce M. Russell (deceased) on 02/23/1970 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the youngest child, and she grew up with five siblings: James Warner, David Russell (deceased), Donald R. Russell, Michael J. Russell, and Timothy R. Russell (deceased). Michelle was raised in the small town of Twinsburg, Ohio, graduating from R.B. Chamberlin High School in 1988. She describes having a very close relationship with her brothers, and she speaks fondly of her childhood memories. Growing up in Twisnburg, Ohio was a very happy time for her. She has found memories of Church, Family, and Friends. After graduating High School she moved to Kent, Ohio to attend Kent State University. Ms. Russell is fortunate to have many years of higher education under her belt, and she has held several work positions over the years.
With more than two decades of excellence in finance; credit & collections, Ms. Russell has earned distinction as a Credit & Collection Manager, working for several Fortune 500 Companies. Working for Avery Dennison Corp., Since January 2023 to Present, as a Corporate Credit Manager she has focused her efforts on Credit & Commercial Collections; the Order-to-Cash process. She is currently a member of the National Association of Credit Management (NACM), and she has held membership with ABC-Amega / the National Chemical Credit Association (NCCA), and the Motor and Equipment Manufacturing Association (MEMA) credit groups.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Russell served as Credit Manager, Americas for Synthomer Inc., (acquired OMNOVA Solutions) from April 2020 to December 2022. Regional Credit Manager for OMNOVA Solutions from November 2018 to April 2020. Senior Credit Analyst for OMNOVA Solutions from April 2018 to November 2018. Credit & Collection Manager/Supervisor for ZF TRW Automotive from November 2015 to November 2017. TRW Automotive was acquired by ZF, through its acquisition by the ZF Group in 2015. Ms. Russell held the same position of Credit & Collection Manager/Supervisor with TRW Automotive from May 2012 to November 2015.
Due to the Credit Crisis of 2009, Ms. Russell worked in the nonprofit sector, as the Executive Director of the nonprofit organization, From Darkness to Light, from November 2008 to Present (founding member in November 2006. More to be shared regarding the nonprofit, after work history has been outlined).
Prior to accepting the position of Executive Director of From Darkness to Light, Ms. Russell relocated to Lexington, Kentucky to work for Aramark (Galls Division), as a Credit Manager/Supervisor from January 2007 to September 2008. Prior to working for Aramark, Ms. Russell worked as a Sr. Credit & Collection Analyst for SourceOne Healthcare Technologies/Philips Medical Systems/Maroni Medical Systems/Picker International, from September 1998 to January 2007. (The company had four name changes, due to mergers and acquisitions).
To prepare for her professional journey, Ms. Russell earned a Bachelor of Arts in applied conflict management with a double minor in criminal justice and psychology from Kent State University in 1999. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2004. Well-qualified in her field, she also holds a certification in non-profit organizational management from Case Western Reserve University.
Having a passion for working with the homeless, and teaching the youth about financial literacy, Ms. Russell lends her expertise as a board member and trustee to From Darkness to Light https://www.fd2l.org/, a non-profit organization that is committed to addressing ways to resolve and prevent homelessness. She is also a board member and trustee of Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless (NEOCH) https://www.neoch.org/, and was named Volunteer of the Year (2009) and Advocate of the Year (2015) by NEOCH. Ms. Russell is also a published author, a philanthropist, and a community activist working to enrich the lives of others. Looking to the future, Ms. Russell intends to continue to grow From Darkness to Light, including securing more donations to help renovate the warehouse they operate out of, and to assist with the many services they provide; homebound food delivery service, food pantry, homeless food service provider, financial literacy program, donation giveaway program, and other resources to help individuals in need.
