Mr. Gibson was also the Tahlequah Chamber of Commerce executive director between 2002 and 2005 and the Texas State Rifle Association executive director in the Dallas/Fort Worth area between 1998 and 2002. During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Gibson found success as the director of membership and meetings for the Association of Energy Service Companies from 1996 to 1998 and as the director of communications and meetings for the Ground Water Protection Council between 1991 and 1996. Furthermore, he was an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Arlington from 1999 to 2001, teaching public relations and advertising courses.
Civically invested, Mr. Gibson proudly supports several local organizations. He was a member and board member of his local Rotary International in Oklahoma and a board member of the Tahlequah Public Schools Foundation and the Oklahoma University Band Alumni Association. He has also served as a transportation board representative for the City of Norman, Oklahoma, and as a parks board commissioner for the City of Norman. Among other involvement, Mr. Gibson represented the Libera Boys Choir from London during their tour in the U.S. in 2019, selected to assist with promoting their Oklahoma concert. During their subsequent visits to the U.S., he promoted their tours in Washington, D.C., New York City, and Los Angeles.
Mr. Gibson graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism/public relations, and a Master of Arts in journalism, public relations/ media management. He also received credentials as a certified association communications executive through the American Society of Association Executives.
Affiliated with several professional organizations, Mr. Gibson is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the American Society of Association Executives.
In light of his professional and civic achievements, Mr. Gibson received several accolades, including an Upper Case Award from the Public Relations Society of America, a Muse Award, three MarCom Awards, and a National Medal of Patriotism from the National Rifle Association.
