After 30 years of continuous success in the airline/aviation industry, Mrs. Ballard-Battle pivoted by establishing her company, BattlePlan Virtual LLC in 2011 as the owner and chief executive officer. For the first few years in operation, she served as her firm's performance facilitator and client support professional from 2011 to 2015. Recognized as a digital content marketing firm, Mrs. Ballard-Battle specializes in creating, curating, and publishing newsletters and e zines and other types of long-form and short-form writing projects, while also providing small business consulting, travel management, and event planning services. In light of her event planning success, she was awarded two Proclamations (in 2018 and 2019) by Pennsylvania's State Representative of the 24th District, Edward Gainey. Mr. Gainey is now the Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh.
From 1978 to 2008, Mrs. Ballard-Battle was employed by Allegheny Airlines, USAir and USAirways, Inc. (now American Airlines) in the capacity of manager of international and domestic reservations sales, marketing, planning and communications. After her tenure within the airline industry, she performed as a financial services consultant and loan servicing specialist with PNC Bank. Mrs. Ballard-Battle then re-entered the travel industry as a corporate, domestic and international travel planning specialist for US Steel.
Mrs. Ballard-Battle's extensive experience in corporate America has played a critical role in her success today as an entrepreneur and active volunteer. Committed to giving back as a leader in her community, she has notably served as a Commissioner and the Vice Chair of the Wilkinsburg Planning Commission, a four-year volunteer appointment that involves the oversight of the maintenance and development of the community. She also currently serves as a Commissioner and the Vice Chair of the Wilkinsburg Government Study Commission and as its communication facilitator. Mrs. Ballard-Battle began serving in civic roles during college, involved in leukemia research for the American Red Cross.
Following high school, Mrs. Ballard-Battle attended Kirkland College, studying philosophy and dance. She then transferred to Syracuse University where she majored in print and broadcast media at the SI Newhouse School of Public Communications. She also holds digital content mastery and search engine optimization (SEO) certifications from the American Writers and Artists Institute.
As part of her continued commitments to the town of Wilkinsburg, Ms. Ballard-Battle is affiliated as a member of the Southwest chapter of the American Planning Association.
