Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in mechanical engineering, Mr. Owen has earned distinction as a senior product development engineer for Closure Systems International. Since 1993, he has focused his efforts on designing, developing and testing plastics across all mediums and spanning various molding processes such as extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, rotational molding and compression molding. Outside of his primary career efforts, his artistic creations have graced prestigious galleries, museum displays and airport exhibitions across various locations, including California, Illinois, Texas and Indiana.
Before his present role, Mr. Owen served as a senior product engineer for Hamelin Industries/Spartech/Custom Engineered Wheels, Inc. in 1994 until becoming the owner, president and chief executive officer of Unlimited Plastic Technologies, Inc. in 1997. He successfully operated his company, specializing in new product design & development in the plastics industry. During this time, he also was a senior product engineer for the Federal-Mogul Holdings Corporation from 2003 until 2009 and was a product engineer for Supreme Truck Bodies and Custom Vehicles in 2012.
Mr. Owen continued his career as a research and development, technical sales and design engineer for Custom Engineered Wheels, Inc. in 2013 and took a role as a design engineer for Milestone Technologies, Inc. in 2016. In 2019, he served as a new product development engineer working on Plasticade for the American Louver Company. To prepare for his professional journey, Mr. Owen earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1987.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Owen holds 20 patents currently approved or in the approval process, with two more slated for submission in January 2024. He secured five patents during his tenure at Custom Engineered Wheels, Inc. and was presented with opportunities for advancement in higher roles and has submitted six patents and led the development of a new product line for Closure Systems International.
Within the coming years, Mr. Owen intends to pursue legal studies through the Purdue Global Law School while authoring a minimum of 30 patents, focusing on contributing eight patents to the medical field at Closure Systems International. As he is engaging with high-level projects aligning with the California Senate Bill 54's plastic reduction requirements, he is concurrently negotiating a multi-book series deal and crafting a fourth book sharing his cancer experience to aid others and contribute to medicine. He plans to delve into the biology and chemistry of the human body with two planned publications for 2024 as well.
