Before establishing her business, Ms. Tekstra began her career as an information technology technician for Access After Hours in Australia in 1992 at the start of the personal computer explosion. She then moved back to the United Kingdom in 1993 and began her actuarial studies with Barnett Waddingham, a pensions consulting firm, qualifying as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 1997. Following this time, she moved to the United States and joined Towers Perrin's international consulting group in 1998, becoming the youngest ever Principal of the firm in 2001. She served as the director of multinational development there in 2011 following a company merger to become Towers Watson, and helping to drive the expansion of the international practice. Another company merger in 2016 led to the formation of Willis Towers Watson (now known as WTW) and Emma was asked to join the leadership of the Health and Benefits business of the new company as the innovation and service development leader for the business outside of the United States. Finally, in 2022 she became the insights and solutions leader for health and benefits for the European and International regions. During her tenure, she worked with some of the world's biggest multinational corporations and aided them in expanding their businesses worldwide while improving the experience and health of their employees.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Tekstra earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and computer science from The University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom in 1992. She was also admitted as a fellow to the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. Within the coming years, Ms. Tekstra intends to publish her second book, which is more focused on how to raise healthy kids. She also aims to help more companies develop health solutions that will move the needle on improving employee health and reducing corporate healthcare costs.
