NEW YORK, NY, January 31, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David Kahne has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
For over two decades, Mr. Kahne has owned and operated SeeSquared Music, through which he continues to apply his vast skill set and the expertise he gleaned working for famous names and companies in the music and entertainment industry. From working live events to mixing music, he draws from his knowledge in music composition, orchestration, management, production, programming, and performance. Prior to establishing his own music enterprise, Mr. Kahne gained a strong business background working for big-name record labels and held several top executive positions.
Before stepping into such noteworthy roles and establishing himself in the industry, Mr. Kahne began his foray in music as a musician himself; he played in various bands and simultaneously pursued work in fields outside of music to support his family. Most notably, he taught English, applying the degree he earned from California State University, Sacramento, and taught music as a side curriculum. During his time teaching, he had the privilege of supporting one of his students, who possessed an exceptional talent for music; they started writing and performing together and recorded their first songs on tapes and sent them to music shops, which led to a record deal with Capitol Records.
Along with finding success as an artist himself, having released two albums and holding membership with The Society of Composers & Lyricists, Mr. Kahne ultimately switched his focus to music production full-time, leading him to hold executive positions and achieve noteworthy feats at big-name record labels.
While working at Columbia Records for over 15 years as the artists and repertoire (A&R) vice president for 10 years and as Sr. VP A&R for 5 years, he assembled the first artists database for a major record company and won the 1994 Grammy Award for Album of the Year for "Tony Bennett: MTV Unplugged", granted by The Recording Academy.
In 2000, he became the executive vice president of Warner Records, formerly Warner Bros. Records, and Reprise Records, owned by Warner Music Group. During his five-year tenure there, he signed many artists, continued producing, and established the first digital library of masters and project data and took the step in establishing his own business, SeeSquared Music.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Kahne has contributed to the development of then-emerging talents and now household names, such as The Bangles, Sublime, Fishbone, Lana Del Rey, Regina Spektor, and Sugar Ray, among others. Furthermore, he has collaborated as a producer with renowned artists such as Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Tony Bennett, and Paul McCartney, among countless others. Coupled with his partnership with and support of renowned artists, Mr. Kahne has played a large part in beta-tested audio software—including UVI, Native Instruments, Bitwig, Output, Magix, and countless others—for developers.
Moreover, Mr. Kahne has worked as a consultant regarding artificial intelligence, data-driven A&R solutions, distribution, rights ownership, and new non-latent and full-bandwidth streaming technology. He takes great pride in his achievements in the music industry and ascribes his accomplishments to his unwavering inquisitiveness regarding the design of structures and the mechanics of music.
In reflecting on the numerous production, sound design, and composition projects for various artists, bands, television shows, and orchestral performances that he has undertaken to date, Mr. Kahne has been pursuing more film scoring and orchestral work, as he derives immense pleasure and satisfaction from creating music that complements and enhances visual media.
Scoring work includes "The Armstrong Lie" - dir. Alex Gibney, "Sublime - a documentary" - dir. Bill Guttentag, "That Animal Rescue Show" - dirs. Richard Linklater & Bill Guttentag, and "Requiem Boogie" - dir. Jordan Walker-Pearlman.
Mr. Kahne is also scoring and doing sound design & mixing in the immersive experience field, having just finished an Ocean Experience in Dollywood, and is starting work on a Game Of Thrones immersive in Las Vegas, which will open in 2025.
He intends to pursue more projects of this nature in the near future.
