Similarly, she serves as a senior research fellow through the Vincentian Center for Social Justice and Poverty and as an executive board member and founding member of The International Institute for Critical Pedagogy and Transformative Leadership.
Before embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Blake earned a diploma in French Literature from La Sorbonne in 1977. Subsequently, she expanded her knowledge, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in French from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Master of Arts in Linguistics from Northwestern University in 1978 and 1989 respectively. Over the years, Dr. Blake has also completed a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a New York State K-12 ESL Certification.
Outside of her work, Dr. Blake has contributed to her community as a volunteer captain for the Special Olympics of New York and as an animal rescuer. Recognizing her considerable achievements, she won an Academic Critics Choice Award. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in fulfilling her father's final wish and publishing his articles from the 1960s and 1970s into a book. Likewise, Dr. Blake is honored to have worked with refugees at a refugee camp in Paris.
Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, Dr. Blake attributes her success to her father, her mentor throughout her life, and her passion for what she does. Looking toward the future, she intends to experience continued success as an educator, seek out more volunteer opportunities, as she continues to work for book publishers as a series editor.
