ONTARIO, CA, February 01, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wahid Ezzat Guirguis, VP & General Counsel, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing on a background in civil engineering and public works, Mr. Guirguis is recognized as vice president and general counsel of specialty contractors: HCI Systems, Inc., CMD Electric, Inc., and Control Systems, Inc where he manages their risk and legal affairs. Drawing on his extensive knowledge of construction law, business law and civil litigation, for more than 25 years, he has continuously counseled all types of clients in the construction industry, including owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, engineers and others involved in multi-million dollar public and private works. Mr. Guirguis' niche expertise is in a variety of areas, including mechanic's liens, stop notices, bond claims, delays, interference, disruption, contract drafting, disputes and licensing.
Though his professional career has been filled with many memorable moments, Mr. Guirguis is particularly proud of completing a two-month-long jury trial, a rarity in construction law since most disputes are typically resolved through arbitration or by a judge. The impressive feat, which he considers a highlight of his litigation career, was achieved in collaboration with his partner, Dale Ortmann. Another proud accomplishment is Mr. Guirguis's publication of "Get Paid! California Mechanic's Liens, Stop Notices, and Payment Bond Claims" at his former law firm Hunt Ortmann.
Mr. Guirguis sought his undergraduate education at California State Polytechnic University, earning a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in civil engineering in 1994. After working for several years as a field engineer for Charles Pankow Builders and as a senior civil engineering assistant and project manager for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, he obtained his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Western State College of Law in 2000. He was selected Salutatorian of his graduating class.
Noted for his achievements in the field, Mr. Guirguis has earned numerous professional recognitions. These include designations as a 2017, 2016 and 2015 Southern California Super Lawyer, 2012 and 2011 Pasadena Top Attorney, and 2012 Southern California Super Lawyer Rising Star. He was also named a Vanguard Law Magazine Legal Leader in 2022.
In considering the basis for his success, Mr. Guirguis credits his Christian upbringing in Egypt and the United States, as well as his integrity, perseverance, dedication, and passion for fairness while adhering to the Golden Rule, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Outside of work, he enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife, Christine, a pharmacist.
