With more than a decade of excellence in political action and leadership, Ms. Conrad has earned distinction as the Chair for the Washington State Democratic Party. Elected to the role in 2023, she has focused her efforts on setting the strategy and raising resources to help get Democrats elected up and down the ballot across the state. She works to get the community excited about supporting their candidates and finds qualified individuals who will run for various offices and to work with their local party organization.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Conrad served as a CHANGE fellow for Oxfam America in 2005 and became a staff assistant in the White House Office of Public Engagement in 2010. Later that year, she was promoted to be an executive assistant to the senior advisor to President Obama and was a briefings manager for Obama for America in 2012. During this time, she also took a role as the associate director of vice-presidential inaugural planning for the Presidential Inaugural Committee.
Ms. Conrad continued her career as a graduate senior fellow with the Malala Fund in 2014 and 2015, travelling with Malala Yousafzai and her family to the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony. She subsequently was part of the national advance staff for Bernie 2016, a political director for Jim Barksdale for U.S. Senate and a candidate for Washington State Senate the same year. She also served as the United States campaign manager and regional planning advisor for North America and Latin America for the Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation in 2017 until becoming the national director of surrogates for Bernie Sanders for President in 2019. While in these roles, she also was a chair for the King County Democrats from 2018 until 2022, the co-founder and officer for Opportunity PAC in 2020 and co-founder of Mission Accomplice in 2021.
Among her professional accomplishments, Ms. Conrad was honored as Young Alumni of the Year by Seattle University in 2018 and Chair of the Year in 2020 by the Washington State Democrats. She also was listed among the American Association of Political Consultants 40 Under 40 in 2021 and received recognition from the Gain Power's Powerful Idea Awards for Transformational Talent and Leadership in 2022. The same year, she received a NATAS NW Emmys Nomination for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Long Form Content.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Conrad earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and international relations from Seattle University in 2007 and completed a semester at sea through the University of Virginia in 2008. Following these achievements, she attained a Master of Public Administration in public affairs, international development and urban policy from Princeton University in 2015.
Looking to the future, Ms. Conrad may run for office herself while supporting the political aspirations of her colleagues, allowing her to help her community more. Understanding that democracy is a fragile system, she strives to spread awareness that it takes everyone to protect and strengthen it, taking an active role in safeguarding the institution.
